Technical Difficulties
My five year old MacBook died yesterday morning. With life intruding, and now a dead laptop, it looks like I will be offline for awhile.
I’m writing this post on my phone. As cool as it is, using a phone to blog is not a viable long-term solution.

Will miss you! Have a wonderful Christmas and the very best to you and yours for 2013! There are lots of adventures waiting for us…let us see where the wind takes us next….
Thanks! If I’m not back online soon, I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. It’s been a great year, full of fun. I’ve met a lot of wonderful new people, like you, both offline and online.
Ohh! To bad!!!

Linux? That might be a little too hard core geek for me. I’d have to convert all my word processing files first….Tempting thought.
And a Merry Christmas to you, too!
I don’t want to evangelize here
But Linux on the desktop nowadays it is far, really far, from not hard core.
Unless you have a specific need for a program that you can’t run on Linux (I don’t know, an accounting program for instance) it is a viable option.
You can try for free, without even burning a DVD, boot from a USB key and see if you like it before installing, if you choose to do so.
Evangelize away! Linux has a great appeal to me. But my issues are that a good chunk of music is tied to iTunes and my writing is done using Mariner Write, a very small-footprint word processor with its own format. That said, I’m looking to convert all my files to more universal formats, so that the next time I need a new laptop, I can give Linux a go.
