Technical Difficulties

My five year old MacBook died yesterday morning. With life intruding, and now a dead laptop, it looks like I will be offline for awhile.

I’m writing this post on my phone. As cool as it is, using a phone to blog is not a viable long-term solution. :)

  1. Will miss you! Have a wonderful Christmas and the very best to you and yours for 2013! There are lots of adventures waiting for us…let us see where the wind takes us next….

    • Thanks! If I’m not back online soon, I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. It’s been a great year, full of fun. I’ve met a lot of wonderful new people, like you, both offline and online.

  2. Ohh! To bad!!!
Get a Thinkpad wiht Linux :D
Merry Xmas to you and your family (if you don’t post anything in between :) )

    • Linux? That might be a little too hard core geek for me. I’d have to convert all my word processing files first….Tempting thought.

And a Merry Christmas to you, too!

  3. I don’t want to evangelize here :)
But Linux on the desktop nowadays it is far, really far, from not hard core.
Unless you have a specific need for a program that you can’t run on Linux (I don’t know, an accounting program for instance) it is a viable option.
You can try for free, without even burning a DVD, boot from a USB key and see if you like it before installing, if you choose to do so.

    • Evangelize away! Linux has a great appeal to me. But my issues are that a good chunk of music is tied to iTunes and my writing is done using Mariner Write, a very small-footprint word processor with its own format. That said, I’m looking to convert all my files to more universal formats, so that the next time I need a new laptop, I can give Linux a go.
