Unhappy Hipsters Vs. Catalog Living

There is a satirical architecture blog (okay, maybe it should be called a lifestyle blog) that I like to read on a regular basis called Unhappy Hipsters. If you haven’t read it before, go now. It does a fantastic job of making fun of living in contemporary architecture, especially those homes with Modern influences. I have my friend Julie P. to thank for introducing me to that blog.

But it seems there’s a new blog that’s also worth checking out called Catalog Living. It does a lot that is similar to Unhappy Hipsters but takes on the idealized living that can be found in home furnishing catalogs (Pottery Barn, etc.).

On a personal note, I sent over the link to Unhappy Hipsters to a good friend of mine who happens to be married to an architect. He said he had recently become aware of the blog and when he had showed it to his wife (the architect) she didn’t understand what was so funny about it. Which made me laugh.

  1. So glad to provide you with your daily amusement. My work here is done.

  2. I think Catalog living is the winner. I snorted when I read the Passive Agressive garnishes comment.

  3. So very true and funny, thanks for sharing the links to the blogs! Nice to see I’m not the only one finding these “things” a little crazy.
