Blago Ringtones

Have you ever wanted the voice of a foul-mouthed Chicago politician on your phone? If the answer is yes, then you are in luck. Over at the blog Off the Clock, they’ve got all of the choice quotes from currently on trial former Illinois Governor and Celebrity Apprentice contestant Rod Blagojevich, and they’re all in MP3 format.

So you can download them, convert them, and put them on your phone and have Rod’s voice say things like this when you get a call, or text or voice message:

“And I’m left with gridlock, a (expletive) (expletive) off speaker, potential impeachment, and a (expletive) president who’s all take and no give.”

and this one:

“Only thirteen percent of you all out there think I’m doing a good job. So (expletive) all of you.”

and this classic.

“I’ve got this thing and it’s (expletive) golden. And I’m just not giving it up for (expletive) nothing.”

For those of you outside of Illinois and who are unfamiliar with the weird style of corruption that exists in my home state, only in Illinois would the son-in-law of a Chicago Machine Alderman be considered as the Reformist candidate for Governor as Blago was. His father-in-law is Alderman Dick Mell, who commands a very large army of patronage workers. As we all know now (if we didn’t know before), Blago has turned out to be yet another corrupt Illinois Governor.

Dick Mell is also know for doing this during the raucous city council meeting that took place to replace the recently-deceased Mayor Harold Washington.

This iconic photo was taken by Chuck Berman, a photographer for the Chicago Tribune. Someday, I hope to have a large framed copy of it hanging in my house. That is a Chicago politician in all of their brash humorous glory.

Thanks to my friend Craig, who blogs over at The Bread Line for finding this “fuckin’ golden” collection of MP3s of Blago speaking like so many Chicago politicians speak.
